GEN. Z.

Sunstroke Magazine is a Gen Z print magazine and arts collective with worldwide reach, and they desperately needed both creative and logisitcal solutions across all platforms. They were struggling with reach, advertising, order fulfillment, and creative direction.

  • Arts collectives can be a challenge, so many contributors can diffuse a brand's identity
  • The print industry is viciously competitive, and increasingly accessible - so how does one stand out?
  • Sunstroke needed to platform themselves as a desirable medium for Gen Z artists interested in publishing their work.
  • Logistically, project management was becoming a real issue as they expanded.

Solved.

I was able to enter Sunstroke as a strategic consultant, and later creative director, and completely transformed almost all aspects of their brand in a matter of a year. From building a new contributor system from the ground up, to directing and producing several short films, Sunstroke transformed into an internationally recognizable media.

  1. Developed and maintained brand identity guidelines for the brand, including style guide, web design, social format, and logo.
  2. Onboarded a marketing team that more than quadrupled Sunstroke's following, and tripled their web traffic within the year.
  3. Being Gen Z myself, I eagerly dove into Sunstroke's creative and produced content, release films, live events, and positioned Sunstroke as *the* authority on all things Gen Z.
  4. Structured, from scratch, an order fulfillment program including systems, teams, and structure allowing Sunstroke to ship their print issues and merchandise internationally.

Sunstroke has expanded their digital presence including an exclusive collaboration with Max (Formerly HBO Max), grown their merchandise catalog, and has become a name among Gen Z artists as the authority on all things Gen Z, Y2K, and nostalgia.

“Sunstroke genuinely wouldn't have been possible without Andrew. He completely and entirely transformed almost every single aspect of Sunstroke for the better in ways I cannot begin to describe.” -Birdy Francis, EIC
